Peter Curtin of the Roadside Tavern, Master Brewer in the Burren Brewery and Unearther of Unknown Historical Facts met with radio and TV presenter John Creedon. This “Meeting of Minds” was all about J.R.R. Tolkien and his master piece, “The Lord of the Rings”.
Dr. Liam Campbell was also interviewed. He is an independent writer and scholar from Northern Ireland who is published both creatively and academically. Liam lectures in English Literature & Creative Writing for the North West Regional College in Ireland & the Ulster University.
He and Peter got in contact a number of years ago over the subject of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic work, its history and Tolkien’s intentions when writing the trilogy. Since, Liam has done a lot of research on the subject, and even travelled to libraries in the US in pursuit of the historical facts.
Liam also guided John Creedon and the film crew to the cave not far from Lisdoonvarna that allegedly lent its name to the character of Gollum.
You can find more details on the subject of Tolkien on the Roadside Tavern dedicated Tolkien page.
