The Burren was crowned the Best Place to Holiday in 2022 by the Irish Times!
Following the judge’s decision to announce the Burren the winner, Róisín Ingle wrote an article giving compelling reasons why the limestone area of the Burren is such a wondrous place to visit (and live in). She lets visitors to and residents of the Burren share their impressions and their reasons as to why the Burren is so worthy of spending time in and to really getting to know it.
She also met members of the Burren Ecotourism Network like Peter and Birgitta Curtin, and visited other businesses like Linnane’s Lobster Bar, Monks in Ballyvaughan, the Burren Perfumery to name just a few. There is also a lovely video about the Burren in the online article!
The Irish Times panel of judges went through 1,200 suggestions from the public. The Burren beat off amazing competition from Carlingford in Co. Louth, the Antrim Coast, and the islands of Achill and Inishbofin.
